PERKEMBANGAN DAN PERAN SENI (RUPA) DALAM PEMBANGUNAN BANGSA INDONESIA

Abstract

The development of art in Indonesia can not be separated from the roles and services of people who fought in the world of fine arts. The first institutionalized art academics were established in Indonesia starting in the mid-20th century, namely ISI Yogyakarta and FSRD ITB. These two art institutions are important markers for the development of fine arts. The two institutions are signs point then the development of visual art in Indonesia can be seen before and after that point.

Before the art institution was established, the development of Indonesian art was in form of sanggar as a place for artists to learn to paint. Earlier era was seen when Raden Saleh pioneering Modern art in Indonesia. More further back is the era when Islam affects art and culture in Indonesia. Previously the Hindu-Buddhist Era with its temples and prehistoric era with its stone artefacts.

After the establishment of art institution we can see the development of Indonesian art which is increasingly complex especially today. Development for the development that occurred in Indonesia shows the existence that the art of Indonesia still exist until now amidst global culture.

The development of art is actually the development of the Indonesian human mind itself in Indonesian culture. The development of the Indonesian creative mind gave birth to roles both in the form of art artifacts and in the form of unusual thoughts that were written in a book form.

Thus, the art institution that stood in Indonesia in the 1950s aims to create Indonesians who are ready to take a role in the development of this great nation. This has been proven by art college graduates playing an active role in the midst of Indonesian society with various professions.
