ESTETIKA BENTUK KALAJENGKING PADA MOTIF LUBENG KAIN GRINGSING DI DESA TENGANAN BALI
Abstract
The gringsing textile is the traditional Balinese traditional textile from a Tenganan Peringsingan Village in Karangasem district. The name gringsing derived from the word "gring" means "sick" and the word "sing" means "no/not". And therefore the word "gringsing" meaning "not sick/Healthy" or it refer to a symbol of "repellent reinforcement". The gringsing textile comes in several pattern or motive such as lubeng pattern which is quite famous among the Balinese. However this lubeng pattern is not mainly designed for gringsing textile but this pattern is there on other types of textile such as endek textile. The discussion of this research focuses on the lubeng pattern on the gringsing pattern of Tenganan Village, Bali. The qualitative method is applied to this research process. And the result of the research shows that the lubeng pattern uses on the gringsing textile from Tenganan is in the shape of scorpion. The shape of the scorpion is formed by dots that link and forming straight and curvy lines. The shape of the scorpion lines is made by double weaving style. Beside expressing external aesthetic value formed by the shape; the lubeng on the gringsing textile also expression internal aesthetic value through the expression of the pattern shape in which the scorpions shape of the lubeng pattern express and symbolize the strength of the man using the gringsing. This value of strength shown on the scorpion lubeng pattern of the gringsing textile is the most shining beauty and aesthetic value on this traditional uniqe textile.
