Abstract

According to data from the Directorate of Cultural Protection, there are currently 200 churches in Indonesia that have been officially recognized as cultural heritage buildings. Among these, the GPIB Immanuel WR Supratman Church, a significant structure in its community, has unfortunately not been registered as a cultural heritage site. This oversight is notable, particularly because the building aligns with the criteria outlined in PUPR Regulation No. 19 of 2021, which establishes the parameters for cultural heritage designation. In light of this situation, it is crucial for various stakeholders, including government entities, cultural organizations, and the local community, to collaborate in a concerted effort to address this issue. The legal and technical frameworks provided by existing laws and regulations offer a solid foundation for these integrated efforts. The research conducted for this study employed a qualitative descriptive method, which included observations and interviews with 20 informants. Following the data collection, an analysis was performed, focusing on three key aspects of the building: its architectural value, structural integrity, and utility functions. The findings of the research revealed important information regarding the building’s historical and cultural relevance, as well as areas that require attention for preservation. In the conclusions, several recommendations were made, highlighting the need for targeted preservation efforts and maintaining various elements of the church building.
