THE ANALYSIS OF UNIVERSITY LIBRARY LAYOUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE VISION OF INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

In creating a corporate or institutional image, an introduction is needed to make it more familiar with the general public as a target society. One of them is by having a special identity or special characteristics that are only owned by the corporation and manifested in symbolic visualization. In the science of interior design, the room or building is also located as a silent agent in achieving institutional goals. In the implementation of the embodiment of 2 dimensions alone is not enough, so that the institutional environment must also be able to reflect the identity of the corporation or institution so that it is easier to recognize. In interior or building design, brand image is usually manifested in the application of colors, shapes and patterns, and materials that are adjusted to the operational standards of the institution. In addition to the embodiment of 2-dimensional visualization, the arrangement of the laying of space and room facilities is also adjusted to the use of the building. Library is one of the facilities that plays an important role in the arrangement of educational institutions. This research is focused on analyzing the characteristics of the configuration of the central library furniture and space arrangement, comparing the existing conditions with the standardization of the university library.

The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. Data obtained by survey and observation directly on the library and conducting interviews with Telkom University library staff. The results obtained from this study indicate that the Telkom University central library implements a layout setting that meets the standards, and has fulfilled its function as an educational facility that provides information sources and facilities to carry out learning outside of classroom facilities.
