Abstract
As the second tourist destination in Indonesia, the city of Yogyakarta should provide a child-friendly tourist area, including the main destinations of this cultural city, Jl. Malioboro. Some improvements to pedestrian facilities on Jl. Malioboro has been started since 2016, but has the improvement accommodated the needs of children as a child friendly publik space? This study aims to answer these questions by using qualitative methods with semantic differential scale, conducting field surveys and interviews on children and their parents who accompany them, and literature studies to obtain theory and / or research results that can assist the research process. The analysis has been done using qualitative descriptive content approach to get a conclusion. The results show that most of the pedestrian facilities have met the needs of children, but on the other hand there are still deficiencies that make children feel unsafe and uncomfort when they were in the area. From the analysis result can be concluded that the pedestrian on Jl. Malioboro still need some design improvement to meet the needs of children and present as a public space and tourist destination that is child friendly.
