Abstract

This study talks about the existence of tirta penglukatan (water blessing) facilities and hands washing with health protocols facilities, which are two facilities that must exist in a temple and become a new identity in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. What is tirta penglukatan and health protocol hand washing water? How does the existing and the concept align its creative design with the existing temple architecture? It will be described through this qualitative study using an interpretive descriptive method. The theory of generative structuralism from Pierre Bourdieu will be used as a basis for analyzing data obtained from field observations and literature studies, so that it is approached as a critical study of cultural studies. The results of the study show that the existing creative design for the tirta penglukatan has adapted to the architectural style of a temple which is generally traditional Balinese architectural style, but alienation is still visible in the creative design of the place for washing hands with health protocols. This is inseparable from the haste of its provision, so that as a new identity it is necessary to have a design concept that is in harmony with the existing architectural style of the temple. On the other hand, it will have implications for the development of creative industries to meet the post-pandemic economic recovery.
