REMOTE WORKING PHENOMENON IN CAFE : AN AMBIENT ENVIRONMENT STUDY
Abstract
In today's modern world, remote working is on the rise. With the development of technology through increased online connectivity, many people are now able to control their work everywhere, even while travelling. Remote work location may range from a café, coffee shop, and co-working space; depending on the ambient of the place. As expected, this phenomenon also makes the cafe not only become a place to eat and drink, but also a place for visitors to do their work and meetings. This research aims to indicate the factors that determine the selection of cafes in terms of interior ambient including temperature, illumination and noise. Data collected through an online questionnaire method that will be distributed to visitors who choose to work in three cafes in Ubud, e.g. Full Circle, Pison, and Monsieur Spoon. The data collection will be analyzed qualitatively using the Ambient Environment theory. The results revealed that ambient of an interior can be a determinant as a working performance’s support and comfort in work.
