Study Case: Tulaboocha Packaging Design
Abstract
InanessaywrittenbyBeatriceWarde,itissaidthatpeoplewillunconsciouslychooseeye-catching,ornatepackaginginsteadofcommonanddullones.ThispaperthoroughlystudiesthedesignprocessofthebrandTulaboocha’spackagingdesign.Tulaboochaisakombuchadrink,ateadrinkdevelopedbyafermentationprocesswhichisstillrelativelyuncommoninIndonesia.Comparingitwithotherkombuchabrands,Tulaboocha’spackagingdesignposesvisuallydistinctdifferenceswhichmadeitallthemoreeye-catching.Tulaboocha’spackagingdesignalsoreceivedpositiveresponseswhenexhibitedpublicly.TheauthorseesthatthesedifferencescouldhappensinceTulaboocha’spackagingdesignusesunconventionalreferencesthatmanifestitselfintodesignresolutionsthatunconsciouslyreflectthenatureoftheproductitself.Thisshowsthatcreativethinkingplaysanintegralroleinthedesignprocess,andwhenimplemented,willmanifestitselfintoanexceptionaldesignresult.
